Landscape mulch is an organic material that is used as a ground cover and mimics the function of leaves.
The water holding capacity of Mulch is especially important during droughts and when trees and shrubs are first planted, as it holds the moisture in the soil for longer.
Probably one of the most important reasons to use mulch is to control weeds that seem to continually come up in your landscape beds. Mulch also controls erosion that could develop if the soils between shrubs would remain bare. After the recent rains (albeit precious little!), this is a perfect time to use Mulch in your gardens to lock in moisture and protect against evaporation.
What are your favorite forms of Mulch; organic or in-organic? We only supply organic, but we’d love to hear above the experiences from someone who uses in-organic Mulch, so please feel free to comment!
